David Baker in his recent article, “Defining roles and responsibilities in project management”, said, “Project management requires a structure and framework, but it also requires flexibility in order to adapt to any given environment and the unique challenges they pose. A key determinant of success, however, will always be the proper definition of roles and responsibilities”. [end]

Some people question why business execution is difficult or why project management is important. I found a great example – an amazing feat, the  building of a 57 story building in just 19 days. “59 story building in 19 days” (90 second time lapse video above).   Think about this thru the lens of project management.   Imagine the amount of organization required to complete a building of this scale in just 19 days!   Management of all roles & responsibilities must be flawless in every respect.   There are easily hundreds if not thousands of people working, probably across many dozen companies including suppliers, truckers, crane operators, and workers. To achieve this incredible feat in 19 days, it drives the point that everyone must be clear of his or her contribution to the project, be there are on time, perform the work as planned, and inspect the quality before passing the work to the next person.  – Prof. Dr. Te Wu, the founder Project Management training firm PMO Advisory is among the few people in the world certified in Project (PMP), Program (PgMP), Portfolio (PfMP), and Risk Management (PMI-RMP).
