PMO Advisory is Now a PMI Authorized Training Partner (PMI ATP)

PMO Advisory is proud to be a member of Project Management Institute’s Authorized Training Partner (PMI ATP) program, an enhancement from the previous status as a Registered Education Provider.  Being one of the few firms that train across project (CAPM® and PMP®), program (PgMP®), portfolio (PfMP®), risk (PMI-RMP®), and agile management (PMI-ACP®), the enhancement opportunities are vast.  Here are just a few of the enhancements:

  1. Enhanced PMI-developed content for Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preparation and training
    • All the trainers for PMP course are not only experienced project managers holding the PMP credentials, they also have successfully completed PMI’s official training programme for PMP exam preparation
    • The program also provides support materials such as instruction manuals and syllabi for PMP exam prep courses. For PMO Advisory, we will also have access to its mock exams and test questions
  2. Enhanced intellectual property access to its library of standards, especially illustrations, that can be so vital for students to learn the official materials. We will be rolling out new and updated content throughout 2021 for our courses in PgMP, PfMP, PMI-RMP, PMI-ACP, and other PMI certification bootcamps.
  3. Create new courses in project, program, portfolio, risk, and agile management.
  4. Enhanced marketing capability and recognition as an Authorized Training Partner (ATP) on www.PMI.org.

Ultimately, joining this program helps our customer by:

  • Ensuring high-quality training with the highest quality content, most-qualified trainer, and world-class training approach
  • Providing verified, trusted PMP, PgMP, PfMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP, and CAPM exam bootcamps and training instructors
  • Increasing our ability to create custom courses for our institutional clients, especially creating cross-discipline courses tailored for your requirements

We are excited about 2021 and beyond.  For more information on the specifics, continue reading this page.

Specific Training Enhancement Plan for 2021

Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)®

Since we first developed our PfMP training program in 2014, making us one of the first if not “the first” training company to offer PfMP bootcamp, we have continued to expand our expertise and resources.  For example, in 2014, Dr. Te Wu published The Sensible Guide to Passing the PfMPThis book is regularly updated for the current exam and it remains the best seller in its category.  In 2016, Te and Brian Williamson, one of our best trainers, published Making Choices: Aligning Strategic Business Execution with Strategy through Portfolio ManagementThis book was designed for aspiring portfolio managers preparing for the PfMP exam and wanted to develop a better understanding of the challenges confronting portfolio managers. In 2019, fresh from working on the PMI’s standard team developing the Standard for Portfolio Management Fourth Edition, Te worked with seven of the original collaborators on the standard and published Implementing Project Portfolio Management – A Companion Guide to the Standard for Portfolio Management (Published by PMI). Te continues to play a leadership role in this field by serving as a team lead in the U.S. Technical Advisory Group representing the United States on the International Standard Committee Technical Committee 258.

In 2021 and for our training content, the ATP program gives us greater ability to license content from PMI.  Hence, our plan in 2021 include:

  1. Continue the growth of the PfMP Exam Simulator, currently with over 1,700 questions.
  2. Update our content with more diagrams from the Standard for Portfolio Management.
  3. Develop additional digital study aids such as flashcards.
  4. Expand our current course offering which already include Pre-Recorded, Live Virtual, Classroom, and Onsite. In 2021, we plan to develop a full eLearning course.

Program Management Professional (PgMP)®

PMO Advisory started to offer PgMP training in 2017, and the program was an instant success.  Our CEO, Dr. Te Wu, is one of the few people in the world certified in Program Management (also earning PfMP, PMP, and PMI-RMP), and he led major programs including SAP and Peoplesoft implementations, major website integration, and building new business capabilities. Based on his experience and expertise, our PgMP program has always taken a more practical and hands-on approach than rote memorization. As PMI updated The Standard for Program Management and applied a more principle-based approach, he led the redesign of the course and enhanced the training courses with more content on the principles of program management. Today, this is one of our best training programs, not only to those who are preparing for the PgMP Exam but also for those who wish to learn program management.

In 2021 and for our training content, the ATP program gives us greater ability to license content from PMI.  Hence, our plan in 2021 include:

  1. Continue the growth of the PgMP Exam Simulator, currently with over 1,800 active questions.
  2. Update our content with more diagrams from the Standard for Program Management.
  3. Develop additional digital study aids such as flashcards.
  4. Expand our current course offering which already include Pre-Recorded, Live Virtual, Classroom, and Onsite. In 2021, we plan to develop a full eLearning course.

Te is also working with Francis & Taylor on the latest book, The Sensible Guide to PgMP® Exam Succes (coming soon in 2021).

Project Management Professional (PMP)®

PMO Advisory has been offering PMP training since 2018, and we were one of the first training companies to offer the PMP training based on the current PMBOK® Guide 6th Edition.  Over time, we have developed extensive resources that help professionals to prepare for the PMP exam.  With the new PMI ATP program, we will be using PMI’s latest training content for PMP courses, and this includes an extensive set of content and tools.  In addition, PMO Advisory plans to enhance PMI’s content in two important ways:

  1. To augment the content, we are bundling our PMP course with the Optimizing Project Management eLearning (the course is based on Dr. Wu’s latest book, Optimizing Project Management).
  2. We are also planning to provide an extensive library of sample questions.

Combined, we believe these augmented resources combined with our highly qualified trainers will make us a leading provider of PMP training in the United States.

Other PMI Certification and Project Management Training

PMO Advisory has been offering PMI-ACP®, CAPM®, and PMI-RMP® training since 2017, and we plan to continue offering these training.  Depending on demand, we plan to continue offer these training especially to our institutional customers.  We are currently exploring the potential of offering PMI-PBA® training, and one of the bestselling books in this category, PMI-PBA® Exam Practice Test and Study Guide, is written by our very own trainer, Brian Williamson.   We are also closely observing the development in Disciplined Agile too.

More importantly, beyond PMI certification training, PMO Advisory is developing shorter and more focused training designed to help professionals to perform certain tasks and activities. We are close to developing the Optimizing Project Management course and we believe this is one of the most comprehensive project management training on the market today.
