“The future prediction in project management, which is also highlighted in the project management timeline, gives an insight into how project management is expected to develop over the coming years. I agree that teams will become more remote and consultant’s independent as this will allow for project management to take place over a number of locations. Big data may be used as a management tool in project management along with the use of mobile project management apps. All of these help prepare not only small businesses and startups to work effectively but large businesses to grow more effectively.

I believe the entrepreneur project manager holds an important role in the future. A successful PM in my opinion must be able to see the bigger picture, must be able lead, must be able to listen, must be able build, must be able to take strategic and maybe a risky approach here and there but most importantly they must be able to delegate. I have found that when you do not delegate the project failure is higher. These qualities I have just mentioned are all characteristics of an entrepreneurial PM and this type of PM is the future”.

– Te Wu’s comments on Jenny Beswick’s article ” How Project Management is Evolving

Jenny Beswick for Business2Community writes:  Having worked in project management I can tell you that as well as it being fast paced it is constantly evolving as time progresses on; methods change, techniques change and attitudes change.

No matter what task you take on project management is essential. It is part of a tasks process and should be valued because it helps maintain efficiency and effectiveness in every area, in order to keep the project task in order. In addition, processes and methodologies are important too and adapt differently to each and every project.

I recently came across an overview on this project management evolvement, the changing process, which I found to be very useful. The project management timeline by Telegraph Courses shows exactly what I mean. The principles have changed from far back from the Egyptian day’s right through to constructions like the Shard. What remains the same is the dedication to a project, the motivation to succeed and the creativity to make a difference. Each of the projects on the graphic shows this in one way or another and details out very important facts. I would use it as a learning curve. Small businesses and start-ups in particular can certainly benefit from this, large businesses can learn how markets are developing and project managers themselves can use this as a benchmark for improvements.
