Special Project Management Mentoring Program (SPMMP)

This special project management mentoring program (SPMMP) is mainly designed for Dr. Wu’s students at the various universities that he teaches (or taught).  Other students from his programs can also be considered.  The primary reason for the SPMMP is to provide an forum for his students to learn, build skills, network, and help one another.

As his students, you are aware that Dr. Wu is an advocate of project management and strongly believes that PM can be a force of immense good. By enhancing one’s ability to implement, people can achieve great things. During his career, he has spent considerable time volunteering with various standard and non-profit organizations to advance the field, providing free resources to professionals to get started in the field, and designing best-in-class courses to nurture the next generation of leaders.  As a way of paying forward, Dr. Wu has created this special programs for his current and former students and other students in his programs.

Here are the chief benefits of this program:

  • Current Students* – To avoid conflict of interest between his teaching roles and PMO Advisory, his current students can apply to receive any of his company’s courses for free.
  • Former Students – All former students will qualify for a 30% off any of the PMO Advisory classes, for employed students whose company is paying for the course.  Former students can just complete the registration form and use Coupon Code “FormerStudent30%”.  If you have any hardship paying for the course, send Dr. Wu at his university email and explain the situation. He has granted free access to many former students.
  • All Students – Students can contact Dr. Wu with questions or advice.  Dr. Wu also plans to organize annual meetings to discuss the state of project management and new and emering trends. Occasionally, Dr. Wu may involve people here in the various research studies or pilot courses too.

* Current students is defined as students who are still active in a degreed or certificate program with Dr. Wu and the associated school.

For people who are accepted into the program, they are expected to perform the following:

  • Do good.  Use project management to help others and do good. This can be volunteering with the various PMI chapters, within your community, or with PMO Advisory (which can earn PDUs).
  • Help one another in this program. We are thinking the best of creating a community solely for this group.  If you have any suggestions, please email Dr. Wu.
  • Help Dr. Wu and his company to be better, especially if you find errors.  PMO Advisory creates many content such as training, quiz banks, articles, books, etc. This means that we will slip at times. So help us by reporting errors or make improvement suggestions.
  • Promote project management in your circles. Be active in the project management groups by sharing your story and good practices, exploring new topics, shaping new ideas, and creating articles.  All of these will help you and the profession.
  • Be respectful of everyone and embrace their individualities and the choices that they make. Dr. Wu does not tolerate any discrimination or disrespectful behavior.

There are two ways to qualify for the program:

  1. Invitation only – Dr. Wu invites you to the program.
  2. Good students – Students who earn an average of A- across his classes (or courses in his program)
