The course provides an overview of project management and why it is already an indispensable discipline for organizations desperately seeking ways to improve their ability to deliver value and results.  By understanding the context of project management, participants can better appreciate both the power of the discipline and its widespread use across all organizations, ranging from governmental agencies to non-profit organizations to Global 500 firms. 

 Next, we will review some of the challenges and opportunities of project management, and why organizations are seeking qualified leaders to help them manage projects and deliver benefits.  We will review some successful and failed projects and provide analysis of the factors leading to their successful outcomes.  At the same time, we will highlight selective important skills and behaviors and discuss key terms and concepts. 

 Finally, this course will provide a career roadmap for professionals at all levels to better understand the progression of responsibilities, accountabilities, skills, and domain specific knowledge as they grow from entry-level to professional, from project management to program and then to portfolio management, while also including risk, agile, and project office management. This course will also highlight PMI’s most recent certifications including a new certification on generative AI.
